We live in a world that gives us so much to worry about. Worry is the state of being anxious and troubled over actual or potential problems. Different people have different things they worry about depending on age, gender , marital status ,etc. So, are you always worried about different things in your life? Feel free to share with me on my different social media handles displayed all over this website. Honestly, sometimes I worry about many things in my life. I could write a whole page of my worries and doubts in life .There is one question, however, that quickly comes up. Why I’m I always worried yet I am a born again Christian.

Why do I worry about my future as a Christian? Does worrying show that I don’t trust God? Does it question how strong my faith is? Is worrying part of human nature? I asked different people both on social media and personally about worrying and they all have different views. Some say it shows that you don’t trust God, while others say that it’s just part of our nature to worry. Andera Watcher , a psychotherapist and author writes that Worry is about focusing on troubling things that might happen but generally speaking, worry does not help a troubling situation.

You can read her views on worry here I feel like worrying is just part of our human nature. God knew we would worry and that is why He always wants us to run to Him when we do. Even those who are very strong in faith are sometimes worried about this or that. The preachers, as strong as they are in faith, they can sometimes be worried about their next sermon and that’s why they run to God for help. Is worrying a sin, or it shows that I really don’t trust God as a Christian? My honest answer is No. As much as I am, or you are a Christian , we are still human beings. As I stated earlier, we live in a world that gives us so much to worry about and that’s where Jesus comes in .

Jesus speaks on worrying with a desire to free us from it. Matthew 6.25 says,Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? He goes ahead and gives us an example of the birds .Verse 26 says,Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? If He feeds the birds in the air yet they do not sow or reap, He surely will make a way for me so I don’t need to worry about anything.

Apparently, worrying isn’t helpful. Worrying too much can actually affect us physically. It can lead to high blood pressure and suppresses our immune systems. Spiritually, it creates fear rather than faith in God. God wants us to have faith in Him, trust His plan and have no fear.2nd Timothy 1 .7 says For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Sadly ,worrying doesn’t add even a single hour to our lives . Jesus wants us to stop worrying and seek after God and he will deliver us from all our fears. Psalms 34.4 says I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.

He will give us consolation and joy deep in our worries and anxiety. The Bible says that nothing can separate us from the love of God. He loves us so much and He wants us to know that He will do it for us ,just like He does it for the birds in the air .Jesus says So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. That’s beautiful ,isn’t it.

Someone says your worry list should be your prayer list. You are worried about your kids? School fees? Marriage? Your health? your job? Take it all to Him in prayer. He knows that you are worried and He wants to free you from it. Matthew 11.28 says Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Knowing that we can comfortably tell God all our worries without fear and understanding his overwhelming ,never –ending love creates a whole atmosphere of thanks giving and praise.

So, when you have any worries in your life ,the best thing to do is to tell God all about it. Here is a list of Bible verses that will help you if you are worried about anything Isaiah 40.31 Isaiah 41.10 Joshua 1.9 Psalms 34.4 Psalms 38.8 Thank you for stopping by and reading this.
